Lufthansa's Summer 2025 Schedule Brings New Routes to Global Hubs

Lufthansa Group has unveiled its summer 2025 schedule, promising over 12,000 weekly flights to more than 300 destinations worldwide. The German airline will expand its network significantly, offering new international and European routes through its various carriers, including Lufthansa Airlines, Discover Airlines, Austrian Airlines, Swiss International Air Lines, and Edelweiss. This expansion aims to accommodate the growing travel demand, with new connections across North America, Europe, and Africa.

Lufthansa Group's expanded offerings include new routes from key hubs in Frankfurt, Munich, and Zurich. From Frankfurt, Lufthansa Airlines will introduce a route to Bydgoszcz, Poland, while Discover Airlines will launch flights to Ålesund, Norway. Discover Airlines is expanding its North American services in Munich, adding direct flights to Calgary, Canada, and Orlando, USA. This hub will also offer new connections to Windhoek, Namibia, and Bodø, Norway. From Zurich, Edelweiss will add flights to Halifax, Canada, and Seattle, USA, while new European routes will include Calvi, France, and Terceira, Azores.

These new routes are part of Lufthansa Group's broader effort to strengthen its long-haul network, focusing on North America and Africa. The airline aims to enhance its global presence by offering more options for travelers flying between these regions and Europe. Including these new destinations reflects Lufthansa's commitment to serving well-established tourist spots and emerging markets.

In addition to international routes, Lufthansa Group is expanding its European connectivity, offering travelers access to lesser-known but vibrant cities across the continent. Austrian Airlines will begin new services from Vienna to destinations such as Edinburgh, Scotland; Sylt, Germany; Burgas, Bulgaria; and Harstad-Narvik, Norway. Swiss International Air Lines will introduce new routes from Zurich to Niš, Serbia; Montpellier, France; and Heringsdorf, Germany. These additions will help the Group expand its European footprint, attracting travelers seeking popular summer holiday destinations.

A standout feature of the summer 2025 schedule is the return of the Airbus A380, the world's largest passenger aircraft. Lufthansa will resume operations of the A380 from Munich, offering flights to major cities, including Boston, New York (JFK), Washington D.C., Los Angeles, and Delhi. The A380's return is expected to provide enhanced comfort and capacity, catering to the high demand for these long-haul routes.

Bookings for the summer 2025 season are now open as of November 2024, allowing travelers to plan their trips well in advance. The expanded network across North America, Europe, and Africa provides more flexibility and convenience for those seeking to explore new destinations or revisit popular spots. With new long-haul and European routes, along with the return of the A380, Lufthansa Group is poised to strengthen its competitive position in the global aviation market. The 2025 schedule reflects the increasing summer travel demand and caters to traditional and emerging destinations.
