American Airlines Launches Five New Outdoor Destination Routes for 2025
American Airlines has announced a significant expansion, introducing new routes to Canada and the Rockies for the summer of 2025. The carrier aims to connect travelers with stunning outdoor destinations through five new seasonal, Saturday-only routes.
"In summer 2025, American will launch five new routes to help connect customers with their favorite outdoor destinations," the airline shared in a statement. These routes will offer access to "breathtaking glaciers, awe-inspiring wildlife, and unique natural landscapes."
The routes include Chicago (ORD) to Halifax (YHZ) from June 21 to October 24 and Dallas (DFW) to Québec City (YQB) from August 9 to November 1. From New York's LaGuardia Airport (LGA), flights will connect to Calgary (YYC), Bozeman (BZN), and Kalispell (FCA), running from June 7 to August 30.
The flights from Chicago and Dallas will use Embraer E175 aircraft, known for their 2-2 seating configuration in economy. Meanwhile, the routes from LaGuardia will be operated by the larger Boeing 737 MAX8, offering more capacity.
American Airlines will be the only carrier to serve all these new routes, further enhancing its competitive edge. In Bozeman, the airline will provide more nonstop summer flights than ever before, directly competing with Delta, JetBlue, and United, which already offer service from New York-area airports. However, American's LaGuardia flights may offer greater convenience for many New Yorkers.
The expansion reflects a broader trend, with increased flights to Canada by Air Canada, Porter Airlines, and Flair Airlines, connecting smaller U.S. cities to Canadian destinations. American's bold move underscores its commitment to providing travelers with more options for exploring the great outdoors in 2025.
