The 10 Longest US-Europe Flights in 2025: A Journey Beyond 14 Hours

Transatlantic travel is reaching new heights in 2025, with flights connecting the US and Europe growing both in number and distance. While the average route covers 3,704 nautical miles, some airlines are pushing the limits with ultra-long-haul flights that redefine convenience and endurance for passengers.

At the forefront are routes like Rome to Los Angeles, a 5,521-nautical-mile journey operated by ITA Airways and Norse Atlantic Airways. This route clocks in at approximately 13 hours and 15 minutes, offering a mix of luxury and efficiency. Both carriers have ramped up frequencies, with ITA expanding to daily service during the summer peak.

Similarly, Austrian Airlines is set to relaunch its Vienna to Los Angeles route on April 29, a daily 12-hour journey aboard the Boeing 777-200ER. This route showcases Europe's central connection to the US West Coast, catering to both business and leisure travelers.

One of the most interesting flights this year will be Air France's short-lived Nice to Los Angeles route. Scheduled for the Cannes Film Festival and Monaco Grand Prix, this 5,292-nautical-mile route on the A350-900 will offer a seasonal glimpse into the potential of luxury air travel.

Notably, Turkish Airlines continues to dominate the longest transatlantic routes. While already boasting several ultra-long-haul connections, such as Istanbul to Los Angeles, the airline also makes headlines with its Denver and Seattle services. Both routes exceed 5,200 nautical miles and highlight the growing demand for direct flights between secondary cities in the US and key hubs in Europe.

As airlines compete to stretch the boundaries of transatlantic travel, these ultra-long-haul flights are not just about convenience—they reflect the evolving demands of modern travelers.

Passengers now have more options than ever, even if it means enduring flights exceeding 14 hours. Transatlantic travel in 2025 promises exciting milestones with longer routes and expanded connectivity redefining global aviation.
