Delta Plane Collides at Atlanta Airport Breakout: No Injuries Reported

On Monday, September 10, a dramatic collision occurred at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport when a Delta Airlines plane struck an Endeavor Air flight while taxiing.

Delta Airlines Flight 295, carrying 221 passengers to Tokyo, was taxiing for departure when its wingtip struck the tail of Endeavor Air Flight 5526, which was en route to Lafayette, Louisiana. Both planes were on separate taxiways when the incident occurred.

The FAA reported, "The Delta Airbus A350 was headed to Tokyo. The Endeavor Bombardier CRJ900 was headed to Lafayette, Louisiana." Thankfully, no one was injured in the collision. Delta Flight 295 managed to continue to the concourse, where passengers disembarked, while Endeavor passengers were transported back to the terminal by bus.

Photos and videos on social media revealed the tail of the Endeavor plane detached from the aircraft. One social media user questioned, "Was someone on their phone? Or are they that untrained?" Another commented, "That's quite a shocking incident. I hope everyone involved is safe and the investigation sheds light on how this happened."

The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the Atlanta airport accident to determine its cause. Concerns have been raised about the ground collision avoidance system's potential human error or malfunction.
