Air Canada's Airbus A220 to Serve New US Routes Starting Summer 2025
Air Canada is gearing up for an ambitious summer in 2025, unveiling plans to expand its Airbus A220-300 network across North America. The airline's recent schedule update highlights 12 new routes, primarily to high-demand destinations in the United States, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable and efficient travel options. This marks a strategic step in Air Canada's efforts to optimize its fleet and enhance connectivity.
The Airbus A220-300 will debut on several US routes, including Atlanta, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, and Charlotte. Flights will operate between June and September 2025, aligning with peak travel demand. From its Toronto Pearson hub, Air Canada will operate daily A220 flights to Raleigh-Durham, St. Louis, Washington Dulles, Charlotte, and Philadelphia. Most routes will run until October 25, 2025, offering travelers more flexibility and options.
Vancouver International Airport is also set for an A220 boost. Starting May 1, 2025, travelers can enjoy twice-daily flights to Denver, alongside a temporary daily service to Los Angeles in April. Meanwhile, Montréal-Trudeau International Airport will feature daily A220 flights to Atlanta and Philadelphia during the summer, along with limited-time service to Los Angeles in April.
Domestically, the A220's reach is expanding. Calgary will regain daily A220 service to Ottawa and Vancouver from May through October 2025, reinstating routes last operated in 2023. Montréal will extend its network with seasonal service to Kelowna and Victoria, enhancing connectivity to Western Canada.
Air Canada's fleet growth underscores its confidence in the A220-300. The airline recently ordered five additional aircraft, bringing its total to 65. Featuring a two-class cabin with 137 seats, including 12 in Business Class, the A220 is designed for comfort and efficiency.
"The Airbus A220-300 is a game-changer for our North American network," an Air Canada spokesperson noted. With these additions, Air Canada is positioning itself for a dynamic summer of enhanced service and sustainable travel.
